Long Day on The Pitch? Here is How to Make Time Fly

Right now, the summer football season is kicking off. This means that all of your favorite football teams will be heading out to try and win the premier league and other tournaments.

While premier league footballers are getting ready for kick-off, so are local football teams and smaller clubs. If you are someone that has a child that plays football, you will know that this time of year is incredibly busy.

Not only does your child have to spend countless hours every week training, but they will have a lot of football matches planned for the upcoming weeks. Though days on the pitch are very exciting, they can be very long.

With children’s matches, it is usually the case that they will be played in a tournament style. This means that if your child’s team does well, it is likely that you will be spending the full day on the pitch waiting for them to win.

If you have spent a few days on the pitch, you will know just how boring it can get and if you have a pitch day coming up, you are probably dreading it. Worry not, we have a few ways that you can make time fly when you are spending the day on the pitch.

Get to Know Other Parents

It is likely that you are not going to be the only person on the pitch that is bored. A lot of parents go to see their children play, only to spend hours by themselves and not really speaking to anyone else.

If you notice that there is another parent that looks like they are bored, don’t be afraid to walk up to them and start a conversation. They will probably be grateful for some conversation, especially if they have been spending their entire day in silence. You can ask them about their children and what team they are on.

If their child happens to be on the same team as yours, then it is likely that they will be at all of the matches that you will be attending. If you manage to make friends with them, then you will have someone that you can speak to at all of the matches.

If you are not great at approaching people, you could always start off with a fun joke to break the ice. Everyone loves a bit of humor and it will definitely be a bit of relief for a boring day. If you see them at the other matches, you can start to make a routine of it by telling them the bad joke of the day every time that you see them, as that will be a great way to get you both into a great mood and build a relationship.

Start a Chant

As I stated above, it is likely that you are not going to be the only bored person that is on the pitch. If your child’s team is doing very well, something that you can do is get some of the other parents together and create a chant.

This is a fun time to waste some time when you are there and your children will appreciate all of the support that you are offering them. The chant that you make up may even catch on and you can start to use it at some of the games. The trick to feeling more energized and involved in the game is to fake it until you make it and who knows, you may start to really enjoy it and then become much more involved in what your child does in the future.
