Meeting Minutes
January 14, 2009

Elections Update:

• Marketing: Marie M.

Canoe U

• Dates and Information should be posted on the website ASAP.
• Missy will try asking about a mid-week pool session at a health club so rolling can be offered to students prior to Canoe U. (Chad reported that Brooklyn Center pool only has Sundays open).
• Discussed offering to let students bring families to the first weekend of Canoe U for $20/person (to cover food). We all agreed this was a good idea, but I don't think an official vote was ever called for by the esteemed president.

Treasury Report by Allan

• We have money. If you'd like to know how much, come to the meetings.
• Alan would still like to add Chad's name to the bank account
  

Federal nonprofit status
No update as the involved members were not present.

Gear Swap
Rosie requested (via Jeremiah) a donation of $75.00 for beverages at the event. This was voted on and the result was 5-1 in favor. The lone dissenter declared: LET THEM DRINK WATER..

Adopt-a-Highway

• Tina reported that there are no sections of the highway available. (Told that the state is simply "behind" on updating the signs which indicated otherwise).
• Tina proposed that in lieu of Adopt-a-Highway that the club contact the city of Sandstone and offer to have Canoe-U clean up Robinson Park if the city provides a dumpster.

Pop-up Tent/Shelter
Alan reported that the cost of a pop-up tent would be $600-700. A lively debate led to a vote of 5-1 in favor.
Alan will purchase the tent.
We discussed the issue of who will store and transport the tent, which led to the announcement that Dave S. already has some club stuff and would be willing to store the tent. Chad K. accused Mike M. of stealing a club TV. Chad admitted that he's personally hoarding Rapids Riders bumper stickers.
